Deep Hardness & Iron Removal Plants

Removes

Equipment
Continuous duplex operation

Ion-exchange softening

  • Cheaper and simpler to maintain when the only goal is removing hardness
  • Sufficient for low-pressure steam generators and most washing processes
  • Doesn't remove most dissolved salts — not enough for processes sensitive to overall mineralization
  • Needs salt regeneration and discharge of the extra brine stream

Demineralization (RO + ion exchange or EDI)

  • Near-complete removal of dissolved salts — critical for sensitive dyeing and printing
  • Required for high-pressure steam generators, where residual salts cause scale and corrosion
  • Higher equipment and operating cost compared to softening
  • More service points and wastewater that needs further treatment

When this solution isn't needed

If the process only requires removing hardness — for example a low-pressure steam generator or washing lines with no critical dyeing requirements — full demineralization isn't needed: softening covers it at a significantly lower cost. Demineralization is justified where residual salts directly affect dyeing quality or high-pressure equipment operation.
