Why does metallurgy need water treatment?

  • Allows running at higher cycles of concentration — less blowdown and make-up water
  • Reduces the long-term load on anti-scale dosing
  • Extra capital cost for pretreatment equipment
  • Needs floor space for the added stage and its own maintenance

When this solution isn't needed

If the recirculating loop is already running within its safe cycles of concentration with no heat exchanger scaling, adding make-up water softening isn't always economically justified — often optimizing chemical dosing and the blowdown schedule is enough. The decision should follow a technical audit, not apply automatically to every site.
